Here's how it all started: My dog had mange. I had a personal experience with my 4-month old male Doberman puppy, Pono, being diagnosed with incurable mange by my vet, and she called it sarcoptic mange. She told me that it was inherited from it's mother and I should have my Pono fixed so he couldn't pass it on to any puppies he might sire. Since then, after my research and study of mange from a lay person's point of view as to what causes mange, I have come to believe that the symptoms my vet described indicated that my Pono had demodectic mange, not sarcoptic mange. Either way, I was completely dissatisfied at the time with the treatments that the vet recommended, which was Ivermectin shots with no guarantee it would completely cure the mange, and I did not want my male Doberman fixed. The vet did the best she could with the knowledge she had, but I decided to do something different. I researched the problem myself I talked with some old-time Hawaiians about what they used to do. With this information, and I found current day products and invented this formula for killing the mites that cause mange. I imemdiately went home and started treating my Pono, and I call it Maui Wowie Mange Buster®. I also found out that mange is not an inherited disease. Mange is caused by mites, and once you kill the mites the mange will heal. Puppies get the mites from their mother when they are suckling. A mother can have mites and not have symptoms of mange because its immune system is doing it's job, and that's why some vets think it's inherited. Sadly, many vets know very little about mange. As I used the formula, it worked in a manner that totally pleased me and Pono. We were both happy again. That was 9 years ago and there has been no recurrence of the mange, and Pono is totally healthy to sire puppies. I now use the Maui Wowie Mange Buster® remedy on my 3 dogs (1 Doberman and 2 Lhasa Apsos) about once a month to make sure that the mites don't come back. This also keeps the fleas under control since all my dogs spend a lot of time outdoors, and in Hawaii that means they all get fleas.
